Artist, in the widest sense of the word, in Dalí painting and literature are almost the same thing. A reference to Ut pictura poesis by Horace is constant. The connection between the poetic and the pictorial, characteristic of the Renaissance is given in impulse once again by the Surrealist Movement towards which Dalí feels a special attraction (Montse AGUER, p. 92).

This is the story of an exhibition about Dalí as watercolorist, that the newly created Nordic Watercolor Museum prepared in 1991, its first prominent foray into an international art exhibition, considered by the institution staff as a “true baptism of fire”. The book includes a very significant selection of the author’s photographs and 40 watercolors that, inspired by the Life of Benvenuto Cellini, Don Quixote, and the Essays of Montaigne, are the transcription of the texts made not with the pen, but with a lively and fine brush able of discovering the most hidden.
